IV Prepared foodstuffs; beverages, spirits and vinegar; tobacco

Code 16 covers all processed foods made from meat, fish or crustaceans, including items that have been cooked, cured, smoked, canned, frozen, dried or otherwise prepared for consumption. It includes mixtures, blends and ready-to-eat products such as sausages, pâtés, fish sticks and marinated seafood.

Schedule B code 17 covers raw and refined sugars, including granulated, powdered and liquid forms, as well as sugar-based foods such as candy, chocolate-coated confections, chewing gum, and other sweetened confectionery products manufactured or prepared for export. It excludes sugar substitutes and products primarily composed of other ingredients with only incidental sugar content.

Entry 18 includes raw cocoa beans, cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, cocoa powder, chocolate and other processed cocoa products used in food, beverage, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications, covering both unroasted and roasted beans and any mixtures or derivatives made from them.

Schedule B entry 19 classifies products that are preparations made primarily from cereals, flour, starch or milk, including breakfast cereals, baked goods, instant mixes and sauces where these ingredients are the main component. It is used to code such processed food exports from the United States.

Schedule B code 20 covers processed foods made from vegetables, fruit or nuts, including canned, frozen, dried, pickled, pureed or otherwise prepared products such as sauces, jams, juices and nut pastes. These items are classified for export reporting when they have been altered from their raw state through cooking, preserving or blending.

Code 21 includes a wide variety of prepared food items that are not listed under more specific categories, such as sauces, soups, ready-to-eat meals, mixed or processed edible products and other miscellaneous food preparations intended for consumption.

Code 22 in the Schedule B system covers all beverages, spirits and vinegar exported from the United States, including water, soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee, tea, beer, wine, distilled spirits and various types of vinegar used for culinary or industrial purposes. It groups together both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks and related acidic condiments for statistical reporting.

Code 23 in the Schedule B system covers residues and waste generated by food processing operations, including by-products, scraps and unusable material removed during manufacturing. These items are classified for export reporting and are not considered finished food products.

Code 24 includes all tobacco products such as cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing and snuff, together with manufactured tobacco substitutes like herbal cigarettes, nicotine-containing vaping liquids and other non-leaf products used as tobacco replacements.
