Code 06 in the GB/T 4754-2017 classification covers the extraction of coal from underground or surface deposits and subsequent washing and processing to remove impurities, producing market-ready coal for energy, industrial or commercial use. Activities include coal mining, pit preparation, transport within the mine, coal cleaning, grading and storage before distribution.

Code 07 under the Chinese national standard GB/T 4754-2017 classifies enterprises engaged in locating, drilling, and producing crude oil and natural gas, including the operation of wells, pipelines, and related support activities needed to extract these fossil fuels from underground reservoirs. It covers both on-shore and off-shore extraction activities as part of the nation's industrial accounting system.

Code 08 refers to the extraction of iron ores and their subsequent dressing, including mining, beneficiation and preparation of ferrous metal concentrates for further processing. Activities covered range from open-pit and underground iron-ore mining to crushing, grinding, magnetic or flotation separation and other methods of producing usable ferrous metal products.

Code 09 covers extraction of non-ferrous metals such as copper, lead, zinc, aluminum and related ore processing activities. It includes mining, quarrying and beneficiation operations that separate the metal from its ore to produce concentrates or refined products, but excludes ferrous metal mining.

Code 10 in the GB/T 4754-2017 classification designates activities that extract non-metallic minerals such as stone, sand, gravel, clay, limestone and other industrial minerals, and includes the subsequent dressing, crushing, washing and preparation of these materials for construction, manufacturing or other economic uses.

The code 11 covers enterprises engaged in extracting and beneficiating mineral ores that are not classified elsewhere, such as non-ferrous, phosphate, potash, and other specialty ores. Activities include mining, crushing, grinding, concentration, and any associated processing required to produce marketable mineral products. This category excludes coal, iron-ore and mainstream metal mining which have separate classifications.

Code 12, Professional mining activities, comprises the exploration, extraction and processing of mineral resources such as metal ores, coal, stone, sand and other non-metallic minerals. It includes underground, open-pit and surface mining operations, as well as related activities like drilling, blasting, ore handling, and site rehabilitation.
