Code 51 in the SITC Rev 4 groups organic chemicals, encompassing a broad range of substances derived from carbon and hydrogen, such as basic organic compounds, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and other chemically synthesized organic products intended for industrial, agricultural, or consumer use.

The SITC Rev 4 code 52 groups all inorganic chemicals such as acids, bases, salts, inorganic oxides, industrial gases and other non-organic compounds used in manufacturing, agriculture and other industrial applications. It excludes organic chemicals, which are classified separately under other codes. This category captures bulk materials like sulphuric acid, ammonia, sodium carbonate and similar substances.

The SITC Rev 4 code 53 comprises chemicals and preparations employed to colour or treat materials, including textile and leather dyes, pigments, tanning agents, mordants, bleaching and fixing agents, as well as auxiliary substances used in the dyeing, tanning and colouring processes. It excludes finished dyed or tanned products.

SITC Rev 4 code 54 covers medicinal and pharmaceutical products such as prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vaccines, antibiotics, hormones and other therapeutic preparations used for diagnosis, treatment or prevention of disease, as well as related raw materials and intermediate substances employed in their manufacture.

The SITC Rev. 4 code 55 groups together essential oils and other fragrant substances used in perfumes and cosmetics, together with toilet preparations such as soaps, shampoos, deodorants and other personal-care items that contain these aromatic materials.

Entry 56 in the Standard International Trade Classification Revision 4 covers inorganic chemical fertilizers other than those placed in group 272. It includes nitrogen-based, phosphatic and potassic compounds marketed for crop production, such as urea, ammonium nitrate, superphosphate and potassium chloride. These products are distinguished from organic or specialty fertilizers that are classified elsewhere.

Code 57 refers to primary plastics, encompassing raw polymeric materials such as unprocessed plastic sheets, plates, rods, granules and other basic forms that have not yet been manufactured into finished products.
