Power-generating machinery and equipment comprises machines and apparatus used to produce, transform, or distribute electricity, including steam, gas, nuclear, hydro-electric and wind turbines, generators, alternators, transformers, boilers, condensers, and related auxiliary devices, but excludes installation services and spare parts.

The SITC Rev-4 code 72 covers machinery that is designed for use in specific sectors rather than general purpose equipment, such as machines for textile production, food processing, metalworking, mining and other specialized industrial activities.
